MS LANKA FOR MS ASIA – BEAUTY FOR A GREATER CAUSE

The sari with the attractive fall draped over the right shoulder with the focus on the contrasting colour blouse.

Surprise, surprise the Ms Lanka Beauty contest is widening its boundaries to enable contestants to be a part of Ms Lanka for Ms Asia – Beauty for a greater cause.

The good news is that the rules for the contest remain the same and hence the closing date is now extended to August 4. Aren’t you happy? Mail your entry pronto using the application form printed in today’s Sunday Observer. If by some chance you were wondering yesterday “Oh my goodness, I have no time to post my application form to beat the earlier closing date”.

Then relax. We’ve given you the good news where the extension is concerned, and the possibility of your dreams of being crowned Ms Lanka and then Ms Asia, becoming a reality. We asked the Director Gwendoline Kuhatheva of Technique International the need for the change?

“The need for change is to change with the times, moving closer together with the Asian region – connecting with them, finding the similarities and respecting the differences and perhaps learning from the experiences of each other in different regions.

What could a contestant expect from Ms Lanka for Ms Asia?

“Ms Lanka for Ms Asias holds a greater promise. For this is a beauty pageant which will necessarily incorporate the participation of other Asian countries thereby connecting with each other, with pageants and the eventual crowning of Ms Asia”.

This year our plea is sponsor a child who will see the darkness in his life being replaced by light as he is nurtured into a skilled worker or one endowed with a vocational training that will give him a lifetime skill”.

Contestants who have sent in their application forms please be reminded that the interviews have commenced and so too the training, grooming and learning the catwalk.

An orientation programme for the contestants on a lighter vein has been planned which will include a day of nail art, face painting and Mehendi. The workshops in these subjects will be conducted by a team from the students of Technique International.

Technique International in collaboration with the Sunday Observer Sri Lanka’s leading newspaper with the largest circulation will present the pageant this year too. The other sponsors are Pico Events, softlogic, Sterling Flowers and Trendywear.
